Bullying Prevention & Recovery

Bullying has become a significant on-going concern in our schools and via electronic venues like social media and video.

According to the National Education Association, an estimate 160,000 children miss school every day due to fear of attack or intimidation by other students.

Nationwide, American schools harbor approximately 2.1 million bullies and 2.7 million of their victims. Source: Dan Olweus, National School Safety Center

Studies have shown that incorporating yoga into the lives of children can produce a  marked decline in child-to-child violence in schools.  This bullying prevention study illustrates the type of results that may be garnered.

We attack bullying from multiple angles.

  1. Yoga in the classroom: this addresses the entire environment.
  2. Yoga for the bullied: this helps the children to work through the many after effects.
  3. Yoga for bullies: this is a way to help children learn different, safe strategies to handle anger, frustration and other emotions so they have no need to lash out at other children.
